Classical Pianist Yoko Sata Kothari to Perform as Part of Northwood University’s “International Week”

As part of Northwood University’s International Week Festivities, award-winning classical pianist Yoko Sata Kothari will perform Thursday, February 5th at 8pm, in the Turner Education Center Auditorium.
Born in Tokyo, the award-winning pianist began studies at the age of four. At the age of eight, she became a winner of the Northern Japan Classical Piano Competition. She was awarded for her outstanding performance in the Japan Young Pianist Award and was also a finalist in the Machida Piano Competition. She has been recognized for her compositions and at the age of fourteen, was a finalist in the Tokyo Youth Compositional Competition.
Ms. Kothari graduated from the prestigious Kunitachi College of Music in Tokyo with a bachelor’s degree in the performing arts. “I’m thrilled to participate in Northwood’s International Week and look forward to sharing my art with Northwood University students,” she said.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will consist of approximately 75 minutes of piano performance and artist discussion. Immediately following the performance, Ms. Kothari will meet with audience members during a reception in the Turner Education Center lobby and will be signing her latest “Piano Works of J.S.
